A US SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IS REQUIRED. In order to become eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, you need to submit state-specific requirements to California Board of Nursing. Foreign graduates will be required to submit certain forms to their Nursing School, to be filled out and sent back to California BON. A local license from your country of origin is required. In lieu of a local license from your country of origin, you will need to Authenticate your Nursing Diploma through the Department of Foreign Affairs. A criminal background check is mandatory. Your application is valid for 1 year, requirements must be received within the validity period of your application.
Once an applicant is deemed eligible to take the NCLEX, the Pearson Vue registration must be submitted in order for the Board of Nursing to release the ATT or Authority to Take, which will be used to schedule the exam.
Once the ATT has been released, it will only be valid for 6 months which means you will need to take the NCLEX within the validity period of your ATT. You will be able to pick a testing center as well as the date and time of your exam.
Your NCLEX-RN result will be available 48 hours after taking the examination.
Congratulations, you passed the NCLEX-RN examination! Your license should be issued within 4 weeks after passing the NCLEX. Your license documents will be mailed to your address on file.
